Pioneer City-County Museum

In 1967 the Nolan County Historical Society  collected artifacts in the old Johnson Funeral Home, and opened it's doors to the public two afternoons a week. In 1970, the Old Safeway building was purchased for the purpose of housing the museum.  In 1975, Robert A. Ragland III, grandson of Judge and Mrs. R.A. Ragland, donated the Ragland House to Nolan County and the City of Sweetwater. The house was restored and opened to the public as the Pioneer Museum in a dedication ceremony that also celebrated our nation's Bi-Centennial on July 4, 1976.
