Pioneer City-County Museum

In 1967 the Nolan County Historical Society  collected artefacts in the old Johnson Funeral Home, and opened it's doors to the public two afternoons a week. In 1970 the Old Safeway building was purchased for the purpose housing the museum, and it did so for about 5 years until 1975, when Robert A. Ragland, grandson of Judge R.A. and Mrs. Ragland donated the Ragland House to Nolan County and the City of Sweetwater. The house was restored and opened to the public as the Pioneer Museum in a dedication ceremony that also celebrated our nation's Bi-Centennial on July 4, 1976.
